Multiple game modes: CS, MOBA, Carball, and switching focus

Can a single club play CS and MOBA at the same time? How to drop a game mode, where Carball fits, and how to add a new roster later.

Your club can hold a separate roster for each game mode in ESMO. They're independent, with their own players, contracts, and competitions.

The game modes

  • CS: tactical shooter.

  • MOBA: lane-and-objectives MOBA with heroes.

  • Carball: car-soccer (currently only available to some accounts; see below).

One roster per game mode

A single club can have at most one roster per game mode. So a club can have a CS roster, a MOBA roster, and a Carball roster all at the same time, all independent.

Each roster has its own size depending on the game mode it supports. Players don't move between rosters: a CS player is a CS player; signing one to your CS roster doesn't make them available for your MOBA matches.

You can't have two CS rosters or two MOBA rosters on the same club. That's enforced server-side.

Adding a game mode

If you started ESMO with only a CS roster and now want to add MOBA (or vice versa), go to the roster creation flow in the app. As long as your club doesn't already have a roster in that game mode, you can create one.

There is no time limit. You can add a second game mode years into your club's life.

Dropping a game mode

There is no "delete this roster" button. The way you effectively drop a game mode is:

  1. Don't register the roster for any new competitions.

  2. Let any current competitions finish.

  3. Leave the players where they are. They'll sit dormant on the roster.

A dormant roster doesn't hurt you. The players don't drain anything when no tasks are assigned, no matches are scheduled, and no contracts are about to expire. You can come back to them later if you change your mind.

If you want to free up cash, you can sell or release players from the dormant roster instead of paying their wages, but you can't delete the roster itself.

Where's my Carball team?

Carball is currently only available to a subset of accounts. If you had a Carball roster before and now can't see it, the most likely reason is that Carball access on your account is currently disabled. The roster still exists on the server, it's just not visible until access is restored.

If you want to confirm what's going on with your Carball roster, contact me with your club name and I can check.

FAQ

Can the same player be on my CS and MOBA roster?

No. Players are specific to a game mode. A CS player can't play MOBA, and vice versa. If you want to manage both games, you need two separate rosters with two separate sets of players.

Can I "pause" a roster while I focus on the other game?

There's no formal pause. Just stop registering them for competitions and don't assign them tasks. They'll sit there. The only ongoing concern is contracts ending: if you don't renew them, the players will leave when their contracts expire.

Can I have two separate clubs, one for each game?

Not under the same account. Each account is one club. If you want two completely independent clubs, you'd need two accounts, but only on the condition that they're operated by two different people. See the Single Account Policy article for the rules.

Do "starter" transfer-market rules apply across all my rosters?

Yes. Each roster has its own starters (the players you got at the start, before any transfer). The rule is the same per roster: starters can't be transferred. See the Transfer Market article.
